Fire, Ashes, and the Rebirth of Nature

Carnelian - with its varying shades of red and orange, its hint of sinoper, and its unique glow - reminds us of ember of coal. It seems as if carnelian radiates heat and turns its surroundings to ashes, while feeling smooth and rather soft to the touch.

In this playful necklace, the beautifully glowing carnelian in a biconcave, cylindrical shape meets black, round lava stone, and nicely facetted, cylindrical jasper in red and greenish brown. The rough, ashy surface of the lava appears to be the product of the burning carnelian, while the red and greenish brown of the jasper symbolizes the slow rebirth of nature after a fire. Between these three major beads, small, flat, rectangular hematite beads are set as spacers.

The total length of the necklace is 60cm; the necklace closes with a brass lobster-claw clasp.
