Carnelian - with its varying shades of red and orange, its hint of sinoper, and its unique glow - reminds us of ember of coal. It seems as if carnelian radiates heat and turns its surroundings to ashes, while feeling smooth and rather soft to the touch.

In this necklace I combined that glow of carnelian with the black it incinerates. Biconcave, cylindrical and elliptical carnelian beads are contrasted by smaller, round black onyx beads.

The total length of the necklace is 45cm; the necklace closes with a copper lobster-claw clasp.

Bead Dimensions

Cylindrical carnelian: 1cm long and 0.5cm wide.
Elliptical carnelian: 0.8cm in diameter and 0.4cm in height.
Onyx beads: 0.4 in diameter.
